Beschreibung: I. The film opens disjointedly, showing a poster appealing for funds for the Red Cross and St John Ambulance Brigade for Cinema Day. The fifty ambulances built were sent to Mesopotamia, and Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, Chief Inspector of Mechanical Transport for India, Persia and Mesopotamia, visits the Star Engineering Company at Wolverhampton where they are being constructed. The workers leave the factory gates at "dinnertime". II. Twenty of the fifty ambulances donated form a procession in the Mall at 10am on 22 March 1916 and move off at 11.15am for a drive past King George V, Queen Mary and Lord Montagu in front of Buckingham Palace, and down the Mall escorted by a troop of Royal Horse Guards. Each ambulance is marked "British Red Cross Society" and "St John Ambulance Ass.". III. There is an additional scene at the end of the film of "Second Field Ambulance, Leicesters" Red Cross men on foot marching down a tree lined road with horse-drawn Red Cross wagons behind them (a 'field ambulance' was a military unit, not a vehicle).
The manufacture of ambulances bought through the donation by British cinemas of a day's takings on 9 November 1915, and their presentation to King George V, 22 March 1916.
